Apple to Partner with Softbank for iPhone Sales in Japan by end-2008

Japanese mobile operator Softbank announced on June 4 that it has signed an agreement with Apple for iPhone sales in Japan by year-end 2008, with Apple aiming to boost its market presence in Japan, according to Reuters. Softbank, however, declined to reveal further details of this deal. According to the same report, whether or not Softbank would be the exclusive provider of the phones in Japan was not yet confirmed. DoCoMo, which also has expressed great interest in selling iPhone in Japan, declined to comment on the issue, according again to Reuters.
